Through funding by Microsoft, Games for Change collaborated with Robotify, a platform that delivers easily accessible simulations of virtual robots, to design and facilitate a fun and engaging six-session workshop pilot for middle school youth. Participants in the workshop learned to program virtual robots, so they were able to compete in a big, multiplayer capture the flag game. Robotify experts joined throughout the program to introduce youth to the platform. At the same time, Games for Change designers and facilitators led youth through a series of skill-building activities where they learned to code their robots. At the end of the two weeks, youth were ready to compete in the Capture the Flag competition that required them to use their coding skills in real-time efficiently and effectively in order to win.
