Driving the Asia Conversation on Games for Impact from Hong Kong
A rapidly growing player base, a burgeoning game development scene, ravenous appetites for innovation and experimentation, bold visions for impact… Asia has plenty of stories to tell, best practices to share, and games to show off to the world. As Games for Change’s first local chapter in Asia-Pacific, we’re putting Hong Kong on the map – and flying the flag for the region. Join the G4C Hong Kong community!

June 7-8, 2025 | The University of Hong Kong
Welcome to the first-ever Games for Change Hong Kong Festival, a two-day gathering of changemakers, creatives, educators, developers, researchers, and dreamers who believe in the power of play to spark impact.
Following the success of our sold-out Games for Change APAC-HK event in 2023 and our subsequent interMISSION workshop series, we’re back with a bold new vision: to explore the new, better futures within and brought about by interactive media, and with license to launch the official Games for Change Hong Kong chapter — proudly, the first ever local chapter in Asia!
With the theme “Playing at the New Frontiers”, our 2025 festival expands beyond games in education to examine a wider spectrum of interactive mediums for social impact and education, as well as urgent adjacent topics in the game industry itself — from diversity and inclusion and regional representation, to the power of interactive media in addressing topics such as climate change, well-being, and human creativity.

G4C Learn Student Game Jam (2024) – Our first international student game jam with the Harbour School Hong Kong resulted in an award-winning tabletop game. Students explored critical topics including greener communities, fashion recycling, and ocean conservation while building creative problem-solving skills through collaborative game design.
InterMISSION Program (2023-2024) – This impactful series showcased serious games addressing social issues, featuring hands-on gameplay with titles like Age of Prosperity, Law of the Forest, Mystery of the Yellow Dragon, and LOOP. The program successfully united designers with sustainability advocates and highlighted nominees from the Games for Change 2024 Impact Awards. Check out the wrap-up video of the event!
Game Changers Hackathon (January 2024) – Supported by the Hong Kong Design Centre, this weekend hackathon united participants exploring sustainability practices in circular fashion, eco-tourism, and food waste. Mentors guided teams to create innovative game concepts promoting circular economy principles, from digital games about sustainable farming to card games addressing food waste.
Inaugural APAC-HK Event (June 2023) – Our landmark event at the University of Hong Kong gathered 100+ changemakers, NGO experts, creatives, academics, and educators to explore the potential of games and XR experiences for social impact. This successful gathering demonstrated Hong Kong’s enthusiasm for serious games and laid the foundation for our growing community.

Games for Change Hong Kong is driven by a passionate team of game creators, design innovators, and thought leaders committed to leveraging the power of games for the greater good.
