Description:

Half the Sky Movement: The Game raised awareness about oppression women and girls face worldwide and the opportunities available to overcome that oppression. Save the Park!

Title: Save the Park!

Description:

The American Express Foundation came to G4C to develop a mobile game designed to galvanize the public to volunteer in National Parks. To help celebrate the National Parks Centennial Year, the mobile game aims to offer a first step to convert game players into real-world volunteers. G4C executive produced, selected developers, and oversaw all aspects of development.

Outcomes:
  • Awarded Silver at the International Serious Play Awards in 2016
  • 19% conversion rate to volunteers
  • $16,000 raised in donations to National Parks Services
  • 20-minute median session length (average session is 7.5 minutes)

9 Minutes

Title: 9 Minutes

Description:

9 Minutes was developed as part of the Half the Sky Movement portfolio of games and used images and little text to play out the adventure of pregnancy. G4C executive produced, distributed, and evaluated the game in the field, overseeing ZMQ Technologies, who designed and developed the games as well as a network of global field partners who facilitated distribution activities.

G4C offers a suite of consulting services that begin with strategic workshops and continue into a range of advising activities that support all phases of game production and publishing. G4C supports with concept development and strategic planning through workshops and advises on vendor vetting and procurement, production planning and support via consulting hours. Strategic workshops can be produced for a single organization or amplified for a group session to offer introduction to impact games sector and provide overview of publishing and development processes.

Strategic Workshop for Financial Education Game

Title: Strategic Workshop for Financial Education Game

Description:

Fundacion Capital reached out to G4C to collaborate on strategic planning and development for a Youth Financial Education program that could be scaled to global audiences. G4C hosted a strategy workshop to ideate a game concept, define a project strategy and outline elements for an RFP (request for proposal) to support selection of Game Theory, the developer that built the game.

Outcomes:
  • Produced the game EduChef, available on the Play Store and App Store.
  • 12 participants attended 2-day strategy workshop in Bogota, Colombia
  • 6 proposals received back from developers

Packard Games Strategy Summit

Title: Packard Games Strategy Summit

Description:

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation sought to invite its grantees for population and reproductive health programs to explore games and game thinking. G4C conducted a two-day game development workshop for multiple grantee teams. One selected grantee was selected to receive supplemental mentorship from G4C to support development of a working prototype. G4C hosted a public design challenge to select a development team and oversaw creation of a playable prototype by the winning game design team.

Title: T. Rowe Price Game Strategy Workshop

Description:

G4C hosted a game strategy workshop with 12 participants to refine an existing game concept into fleshed out design and executable work plan. Based on outcomes, G4C prepared concept documentation and assisted with the creation and distribution of a request for proposal (RFP) and selection of a developer to execute the project
