Jamais Cascio, CRN’s Global Futures Strategist, discusses the ability of virtual worlds and game environments “to serve as proxies for the real world, allowing users to practice tasks and ideas in a sufficiently realistic setting that the results provide useful real life lessons.” Using the United Nations ISDR group’s flash-based “Stop Disasters” game as a starting point, Cascio wonders what other complex issues can be similarly “played” over.
