Since its launch on October 7, FreeRice has already raised over 1 billion grains of rice (enough to feed 50,000 people for one day).

The World Food Program’s internet game has duel goals of providing English vocabulary to everyone for free and helping end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.  For each correct click to a vocabulary question, the website donates money to buy 10 grains of rice.  Already covered by The Washington Post, BBC, and spreading virally via UTube and Facebook, the game is simultaneously raising awareness about hunger and poverty.
