Games for Change (G4C) provides support, visibility and shared resources to organizations and individuals using digital games for social change. This is the primary community of practice for those interested in making digital games about the most pressing issues of our day, from poverty to race and the environment. We are the social change/social issues branch of the Serious Games Initiative.

Government officials, educators, game developers, and various cross sector professionals gathered this past October to exchange ideas on serious games for first responders, government, education, health, military, science, and social change.

Social butterflies who missed the conference can read Serious Games Source’s writeups. MIT’s Henry Jenkins offers some thoughts about the nature of the serious games movement and how these games could be more widely accepted by the general public.  A game designer and Department of Defense official provide some insider insights into the challenges for serious games in the DoD, especially in facing procedures for government contracting.  Finally experts in the field provide tips for those with serious game ideas on what to expect and how to effectively work with games developers.
