A Strategy Game about Big Oil
Posted by Hsing Wei on 12-02-06Can a game affect perceptions about oil consumption?
A reviewer comments on Oil God, a game where players get the chance to be a big oil company. Is it a game for just pure fun, or does it also provide a window into the reality of oil economics and motivate people to pursue energy alternatives? The (satirical) goal of the game is to increase the price of oil, so the option to be an eco-hero is not rewarded. However, the game player and reviewer noticeably tried at first to invest his powers in that direction.
