Game Mission: Eliminate Corruption on Capital Hill

Instead of slinging bullets, players sling subpoenas in a video game about corruption on Capital Hill.

For one reviewer describing the game, the lesson was easily spotted.  He praised it for turning a complex political topic into an entertaining and educational game about how corruption can quickly spread and how adhering to the legal system maintains order.  As Assistant Special Prosecutors in Subpoena Power, players must identify and vanquish corrupt lobbyists, Senators, and Congressmen before Toadies throw too much mud on them and sully their reputation.  The game’s tagline reads “Be Patriotic, Save the Republic, Insist on Truth. “ Between rapidly pressing the deliver subpoena key and jumping over mud fireballs, the game’s message hopefully seeps in—that court orders can “help expose the corruption and cleanse the halls of power” in D.C.  On the eve of mid-term elections, the game’s developers blogged, “Whatever gets this political discourse started at this crucial time in American government is important.  In the age of misinformation, where comedy and games are seen as information I wonder about our future but we are pleased to be part of the conversation.”
