Lecturer of Interactive Media, University of Miami
Lien Tran teaches interaction design at the University of Miami’s School of Communication. Her creative work includes humanitarian and participatory design and includes social impact games and design advocacy for public health, social justice, and climate risk management. In 2012 Lien served as a consultant to the World Bank in collaboration with Tanzania Social Action Fund on a game-based participatory learning tool, winning an innovation award from World Bank’s Human Development Network. The game is now the exclusive tool for a national rollout of TASAF’s social safety net program and will be played by 13 million Tanzanian rural farmers. Lien also designed Cops & Rubbers, a game based on Open Society Foundations’ research on police use of condom possession as evidence of prostitution. Other game partnerships include UNISDR, Red Cross, and Oxfam America. Lien received her MFA in Design & Technology from Parsons and her BBA from William and Mary.
