Program Associate, Global Kids
Juan holds an MA in Media Studies from The New School University. He has experience working with at-risk youth in games-based learning instruction and has expertise in the fields of video, film, and virtual worlds. During his time at Global Kids, Juan has led the Create to Learn program in which middle school girls design a math-based computer game. He is interested in the use of media as a social marketing tool and in the development of virtual worlds as learning environments. He studied Radio, TV and Film at the School of Communications of Howard University in Washington, D.C. In 2007, he produced the conference “Adolescence in Latin American Film” at the Art Department of Universidad Pedagogica in Honduras. His work has been shown at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, Paper Tiger Television, and at Queens Museum. Originally from Honduras, Juan is also fluent in Spanish.
