Austin is a game developer who conducts and translates human-centered research into fun and effective game design aimed at motivating healthy behavior and creating positive impact in people’s lives. In his work with the non-profit HopeLab, he managed the research, design, and production of Re-Mission 2, a collection of video games created to improve treatment adherence and self-efficacy in adolescents and young adults with cancer. He is also an avid gamer and designer who believes that games can be more than entertainment, and that games aimed at improving lives must be genuinely entertaining.
