Games for Change and American Express are hosting a hands-on game jam and a game arcade at the NYC Park Exchange event on August 22 to celebrate the National Park Service’s Centennial!

Event goers will have the chance to experience the brilliant innovations of Thomas Edison National Historical Park, alongside Bill Nye the “Science Guy,” as we transform New York City’s skyline in celebration of the centennial anniversary. During the Park Exchange from 1 to 10 p.m., visitors will gain a better understanding of Thomas Edison’s effect on the modern world by engaging with a series of fun, interactive puzzle challenges.

Smart Parks Game Jam
Form a team with friends or family (we can also find a team for you!), come learn the basics of game design from the folks behind the Come Out & Play Festival, and rapidly prototype games that encourage people to interact with the park, showing how games can inspire environmental stewardship and civic engagement.

We’ll be playing and making games at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 1, on August 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. Games will be played by judges, and winners will receive prizes!

No experience is required, and all ages are welcome to join. Sign up for the game jam here, and meet us at the Games for Change booth in the park at 3 p.m. to start making games!

Games for Change Arcade
From 1 to 10 p.m., we’ll also be hosting an arcade at our booth right in the park. Come visit us for digital and physical games, temporary tattoos, stickers, and other fun activities for the whole family to enjoy! No sign-ups required for the arcade.

Hope to see you there!
