Currently, Ruth works on interface, education, and game-related projects at the Human Interface Technology Laboratory at the University of Washington in Seattle, teaches part-time at the DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, WA, and promotes games and simulations in education. Her PhD studies and research in education made her realize that these are tools that embody effective and efficient teaching methods, promote systems and ecological thinking, sharpen metacognitive skills, and put the joy back in learning. With her new-found insights and a few like-minded grad students, she co-founded GaSworks, a student-run group at the University of Washington to learn and expand local and state academic and business interests in games. She is currently the G4C regional coordinator for the Puget Sound area, and a member of the UW-based Critical Game Project, another student-driven group focused on game theory and education.
