We’re hiring a Senior Director

Games for Change is seeking a highly motivated Senior Director, Programs and Partnerships, to work in our New York City office. This person will report to the organization’s President, and work closely with the director of development, community manager, and production team. The Senior Director will be part of the Games for Change leadership team, with responsibilities related to the organization’s established core programs, in particular the national Games for Change Student Challenge, Games for Change Festival, and new initiatives including VR for Change. Primary duties are business development, partnerships and program management.

Primary Duties:

Business development

  • Research trends and funding sources within gaming, VR, edtech and impact sectors to drive business development
  • Develop and nurture networks to build and maintain a pipeline of prospective funders, tracking and documenting pipeline and progress
  • Research, identify, prepare and solicit funding from government, foundation and private sector funders for G4C programs including annual Festival, VR for Change, Industry Circle, Student Challenge and ongoing consulting services
  • Develop communication strategy and collateral for promoting and positioning Games for Change initiatives to new audiences and partners/funders

Program management

  • Oversee annual national Student Challenge youth program to engage students, teachers, funders and partners with year-round activities including citywide design competitions
  • Create and manage timelines and budgets for multiple year-round initiatives
  • Create and implement marketing/outreach strategies, working with Community Manager and PR partners to draft press releases, social media and blog posts and other communications


  • Build cross-sector partner networks both in the U.S. and internationally to drive participation in the Games for Change Festival and other programs
  • Write and execute partner and sponsor agreements, grant proposals and reports (with support from the director of development), setting up key performance indicators to track and assess program progress and success
  • Conduct partner pre and post mortem meetings for feedback and improvement
  • Provide regular correspondence with key program partners, including leading weekly phone calls or sharing updates and reporting by email

Events & Facilitation

  • Partner on year-round events including annual Games for Change Festival, including input on content curation and onsite production
  • Present several times a year on impact games by speaking at conferences, meetings, summits and Games for Change events


  • At least 7 years of experience in nonprofit program management and business development, ideally as part of a management team leading organizational strategy
  • Familiarity and passion for impact games and interactive media, ideally with an existing network of former collaborators and partners in sector
  • Proven fundraising ability with experience cultivating multi-year partnerships
  • Strong relationship building skills, with an entrepreneurial approach
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong analytic skills (financial, planning, operational)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both writing and speaking
  • Experience working with educators and students
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to represent Games for Change at events
  • Strategic thinker
  • Creative and efficient problem solver
  • High energy, positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
